Wireless Networks

COSpublic provides Internet access for visitors to both the Weed and Yreka campuses as well as for personal devices belonging to staff and faculty. Those who use this network should be aware that it is an open network that requires no authentication and does not encrypt traffic. Users are unable to see others on the public network and have no access to the COS internal data network. Bandwidth is limited to a maximum of 10Mbps upload and 13Mbps download for each device.

Lodges provides Internet access for residents of the Juniper and Ponderosa Lodges. It is dedicated to course work and, consequently, blocks gaming applications such as Xbox and PlayStation and gives priority to videoconferencing and voice-over-IP traffic. Like COSpublic, those who use this network should be aware that it is an open network that requires no authentication and does not encrypt traffic. Users are unable to see others on the public network and have no access to the COS internal data network.

WeedStaff WiFi provides access to the COS internal data network. Connection to this network is restricted to COS-issued devices used by COS employees. Those desiring a connection to this network must submit a request to Technology Services to configure their device to connect.
