Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)

Our CNA courses usually take place each summer. We will update information here, when we have dates set for our next course.

All candidates are required to complete a criminal background check and drug screening. Information and required forms are provided at the CNA orientation.

CNA certification testing is provided on-site at the Yreka campus, upon completion of the course.

What is a CNA?

Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs) are essential members of the health care team, who are hired in many settings, but most frequently in nursing homes. The demand for CNAs continues to rise annually with jobs available in skilled care facilities, extended care facilities, residential care facilities and hospitals.

CNAs provide basic care under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse and report to nursing staff. Many RN and VN programs require applicants to complete a CNA program prior to enrollment. Vocational Nursing programs may grant credit towards the VN certificate for previous CNA education and experience. The credit accepted will vary by school.

The Certified Nurse Assistant program at College of the Siskiyous is accredited through the California Department of Health Services.
