Weed / COS – There is still time for students to enroll in ADJ 1301: Ethical Reasoning in the Justice System (ADJ 1301 / CRN: 3162), a new General Education–applicable course being offered this spring at College of the Siskiyous. The course is fully online and asynchronous, providing flexibility for students balancing school, work, and other commitments.

ADJ 1301 serves as a cornerstone course for all areas of the justice system. Ethical guidelines, standards of practice, and a strong sense of professional responsibility are essential to maintaining an effective and legitimate system of justice. Without them, public trust erodes, predictability is lost, and confidence in government institutions declines.

This introductory course explores the development of ethical thinking through the insights of ancient philosophers and examines how ethical systems are established and sustained over time. Students will study leading ethical theorists and analyze how these concepts influence decision-making across policing, courts, corrections, and the government entities that oversee these branches.

Students interested in enrolling can visit College of the Siskiyous Admissions & Records or search for ADJ 1301 in the Spring 2026 Schedule of Classes. For additional information or assistance, please contact the Public Relations Office at (530) 938-5373 or email pio@siskiyous.edu.
