Technology Checkouts

Need a laptop to keep up with your coursework? Check one out for the semester for free at the Library!

• Laptops check out for the entire semester
• Checkout is free and easy
• Students must be enrolled in 9 or more credits to be eligible

How it works:

• Stop by the COS Library anytime during open hours
  • If you are a North County student, you can check out a laptop at the Yreka Campus Main Office. Call them ahead of time to confirm their hours: (530) 938-5550
• You will need to read and sign a 1-page Laptop Loan Contract (you will need to supply your name, student ID number, and contact info)
• You will need to do the initial laptop setup on campus using campus wifi (takes about 15 minutes)
• The Library has padded sleeves and backpacks to protect the laptop if you need one

The Library also has separate laptops that can be used for free in the Library (no contracts).

The Library has TI-84 calculators available for free checkout for the semester. These are commonly used for MATH 1050 Elementary Statistics classes and some science classes.

• You will need to read and sign a half-page calculator checkout agreement (you will need to supply your name and student ID number)

The Library has other technology items for checkout:

• Webcams: Check out for three weeks at a time
• Wireless computer mouse: Check out for the semester (due last day of the semester)
• Cameras: Must be registered for a COS photography class in order to check out a camera

Last but not least, the Library sells $1 earbuds. They are cheap in every sense of the word but can be helpful in a pinch. Stop by if you need a pair! Cash only. Price ($1.00) includes tax. The COS Bookstore sells better quality earbuds.

Ok, these aren’t very high tech but they are definitely fun! Checkout a basic set of frisbee golf discs and give the COS disc golf course a try. Disc sets come in a carrying bag and check out for two days at a time.

• Bring a water bottle: the carrying bag has a holder
• Bring your cell phone if you want to access the disc golf course map (QR code for map is attached to the disc bag)
• Watch every disc you throw like a hawk! They can be easy to lose and there is a small replacement cost per disc
• If you love playing, consider buying your own discs! The COS Bookstore sells them at a reasonable price
