Weed Campus Construction Projects

Student Housing:

The second-floor cassettes will begin arriving this week for the A wing. Framing of the B wing walls will begin this week. Curbs were poured on Wednesday last week instead of Friday due to the weather. The architect will begin weekly visits to the site starting in the first week of October. Our project manager is working directly with our new housing director to decide what furniture will go in the rooms. With great progress on this project, most of the loud noises are complete, and you will only hear nailing moving forward.

Trenching across Weed campus begins tomorrow, September 9. Fencing will be installed to identify the area of work as they move from one area to another. Please be mindful when walking across campus. Rat and bat feces were approved to be removed. We are working on the replacement type of insulation. Demo and grading of the canopy area will begin this week. New Student Housing Project

The new 36,000-square-foot housing unit will include 83 rooms (6 Single Capacity, 77 Double Capacity), along with one ARD apartment, three community kitchens, laundry facilities, study and game rooms, and shared community spaces designed to foster a supportive and engaging environment for students. The project is 100% state-funded, with a total investment of approximately $30 million. In compliance with state law, the housing will be classified as affordable, ensuring access for students in need.

Theater Arts and Mc Cloud Hall Reconstruction Project

The College of the Siskiyous is moving forward with essential upgrades to McCloud Hall and the Theater Arts building, with both projects carefully designed to stay within the available budget. McCloud Hall upgrades will include updating the Ceramics Classroom and Exterior Ceramics Lab — such as equipment, HVAC, floor drains, and enclosure enhancements — as well as ADA restroom upgrades, locker improvements, and new interior and exterior paint. The Theater Arts building will be modernized, extending the building's lifespan by roughly 25 years through seismic strengthening, fire-life safety, and accessibility improvements, hazardous materials abatement, and a full roof replacement. Aside from required seismic and HVAC upgrades, the auditorium will remain unchanged to avoid triggering cost-prohibitive modifications. Together, these improvements will enhance safety, functionality, and learning environments across both facilities.
