Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)

College of the Siskiyous is at capacity for WUE. However, students can get on the waitlist for WUE by filling out the application and sending in the necessary documentation.

The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is a program coordinated by the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). Through WUE, students from participating western states and territories may apply to enroll in college programs at a reduced tuition level (out-of-state tuition costs can be found on our Tuition and Fees page.)

The following states participate in WUE: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

The following US Pacific Territories and Freely Associated States also participate in WUE: Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands, Guam, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Republic of Palau.

College of the Siskiyous is authorized under California law to serve a maximum of 100 full-time equivalent students (FTES) every year. To qualify for WUE at College of the Siskiyous, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Maintain legal residence in an approved WUE state or territory for at least 12 months prior to the first day of the term for which a student is applying
  • Enroll at College of the Siskiyous in a Degree or Certificate of Achievement Program
  • Enroll in a minimum of 12 units per full term. Exceptions are provided for programs requiring fewer than 12 units (e.g. Paramedic)
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress: students must pass at least 67% of their courses and maintain at least a 2.5 GPA
  • Be enrolled in at least one in-person course each fall and spring term
  • Students must develop a Comprehensive Educational plan mapping out the completion of their goal with a Counselor and be following that plan each semester
  • Students must be registered for the next primary term prior to the end of the current term. (Example: Fall exchange student is registered prior to the winter break for Spring.)
  • Students are eligible to participate in WUE for a maximum of 3 academic years
  • Students may not establish California residency while on WUE

Apply for WUE at College of the Siskiyous

Please sign the form through your Siskiyous email. Once submitted and verified, the form is automatically emailed to the Admissions and Records office.

Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. Students who are declined for WUE are welcome to attend College of the Siskiyous, but must pay out-of-state tuition. Students may reapply the following term if their application was denied.
